Ahead of the Tokyo BD Festival, comics are once again taking centre stage in the reading life of students at the International French School in Tokyo.

At the Annexe library and the secondary school CDI, students are invited to revisit the comics they discovered during the 2025-2026 school year and vote for the one that left the strongest impression, surprised them or simply captured their imagination.

Choosing a favourite is not always easy. Some students are already returning to familiar pages, rediscovering stories and revisiting the books that stood out during the year before making their final choice.

The vote offers an opportunity to give these readings a second life and to reflect on the stories, visual worlds and characters that have stayed with them.

The results will be announced in November at the BCD and CDI.

The selection also leads into another celebration of comics: the Tokyo BD Festival, which will take place at the school. Students will have the opportunity to discover new works and, above all, to meet and exchange with international authors and illustrators.

From reading to choosing, and from discovering a book to meeting the people who create it, comics provide another way for students to explore culture, share their interests and remain curious about new creative worlds.
